Land of the Lost Videos

Land of the Lost, the movie adaptation of the 1970s TV series, stars Will Ferrell as Dr. Rick Marshall, scientist who is sucked into a time vortex and dropped into prehistoric times. With him are research assistant Holly (Anna Friel) and survivalist Will (Danny McBride). With the help of friendly primate Chaka (Jorma Taccone), the group tries to find a way home. Opening Friday, June 5.

Actor/comedian Will Ferrell has launched Will Ferrell Sunscreen to help Cancer for College, which supports and inspires cancer survivors. The sunscreen is SPF 30, offers UVA/UVB protection, and comes in thee kinds: Sexy Hot Tan, Sun Stroke, and Forbidden Fruit. All proceeds go to the organization’s Willpowered Scholarship Fund, which grants college scholarships to cancer survivors.

Undead and Unwelcome is the eighth book in MaryJanice Davidson’s Undead series, which follows suburban vampire queen Betsy Taylor. In this outing, Betsy takes the body of her werewolf friend to Cape Cod and wonders how the werewolf clan there will receive her. At the same time, back home, her half-sister is starting to act very strangely.

First Installment of Vampire Trilogy to Hit Shelves; Authors at Barnes & Noble

Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth) and author Chuck Hogan (Prince of Thieves) present The Strain, the first novel in their Strain Trilogy, in which a vampiric virus infects New York and threatens to spread across the globe. CDC doctor Eph Goodweather and former professor Abraham Setrakian join a small group of people who are scrambling to stop the virus. The book will be published on Tuesday, June 2.

Hogan and del Toro will discuss the book at the Union Square Barnes & Noble on Thursday, June 4 at 7:00 p.m.; visit the B&N event page for details.

In Pixar’s latest animated feature, Up, balloon salesman Carl Fredricksen (Ed Asner) ties thousands of balloons to his house and sets off to find adventure in South America—only to later discover that an 8-year-old boy named Russell (Jordan Nagai) has snuck in for the ride. Other voices provided by Christopher Plummer (Charles Muntz), John Ratzenberger (Construction Foreman Tom), and Delroy Lindo (Beta).
