Jennifer Weiner’s Best Friends Forever (Atria, 2009) follows Addie and Valerie, childhood best friends who grew apart in their teen years. Now adults, they reconnect when a bloodied Valerie shows up on Addie’s doorstep in desperate need of help.

June 7 is National Cancer Survivors Day and June is Child Abuse Awareness Month—honor both occasions with The Pink Project, a charity photobook that has raised money for the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN) and the Los Angeles Breast Cancer Alliance (LABCA) since its publication in 2007.

Bravo’s new series, Top Chef Masters, will premiere on Wednesday, June 10 at 10:00 p.m EST. A spinoff of the network’s Top Chef, Masters features 24 world-renowned chefs who will compete for money for their favorite charities. Each of the first six episodes will have four competitors, resulting in one winner each week who will get a cash donation for his or her cause. The winners from these six episodes will compete in the final four episodes, with one being eliminated each week until one remains. The winner will be awarded $100,000 for his or her charity.
Kelly Choi, food journalist and host of NYC TV’s Eat Out NY, will host and serve as a judge. Her fellow judges will be restaurant critic and author Gael Greene, journalist and broadcaster Jay Rayner, and author and Saveur Editor in Chief James Oseland.

The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) will give its Popular Vote award to one American designer on Monday, June 15. Every vote you cast for your favorite designer on WWD.com, the Web site of Women’s Wear Daily, will be counted as an entry into the site’s contest to give away two tickets to a show at New York Fashion Week in September 2009.
