The Urban Zen Foundation, designer Donna Karan’s nonprofit philanthropic organization, held its inaugural Food Solutions workshop today for a full room of patrons. The workshops are designed and led by experts Amanda Archibald, RD and Stefanie Bryn Sacks, MS, who alternate educational presentations with audience participation via tastings and light cooking. For today’s day-long event, “Rightsizing Your Waist and Plate,” they were joined by Dr. Lisa Young, RD, CDN, to focus on re-thinking one’s approach to food in order to live a healthier life.

Designer Malan Breton married fashion to ballet with his Spring 2010 Collection, which he unveiled at Manhattan’s Metropolitan Pavilion on Monday, September 14. The Project Runway alumnus drew from his childhood dance background to form his collection as well as the presentation of the show. Backed by an orchestra, the event featured women’s wear and the label’s first set of men’s wear.

On behalf of Chic Galleria, Current Vine founder Denise Tong attended the Custo Barcelona Spring 2010 Collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week on Sunday, September 13.

The bright and fun collection featured both menswear and womenswear. The packed crowd included attendees such as Ugly Betty’s Mark Indelicato and America’s Next Top Model judge Miss Jay.

Spa Week, which allows patrons to experience luxurious treatments for a reduced price, begins for select cities on Monday, September 14 and lasts through will continue through Sunday, September 20. Another set of cities will get their turn from Monday, October 12 through Sunday, October 18. Treatments include massages, facials, nail care, and more.
