Designer Malan Breton married fashion to ballet with his Spring 2010 Collection, which he unveiled at Manhattan’s Metropolitan Pavilion on Monday, September 14. The Project Runway alumnus drew from his childhood dance background to form his collection as well as the presentation of the show. Backed by an orchestra, the event featured women’s wear and the label’s first set of men’s wear.

Authors and friends Candace Bushnell (Sex and the City; Lipstick Jungle) and Jennifer Weiner (Good in Bed; In Her Shoes) will participate in “Sex and the City and Best Friends Forever,” an event at the 92nd Street Y, on Tuesday, September 8 at 8:15 p.m. In addition to discussing writing, the authors will also engage in good old-fashioned girl talk. Models of the Runway, Lifetime’s new companion series to Project Runway, will premiere on Thursday, August 20, at 11:00 p.m. EST. For the first time, the 16 models from Project Runway will be spotlighted as they strive to make the cut from week to week. The one who makes it to the end alongside the winning designer will receive $25,000 and a spread in Marie Claire magazine.

The sixth season of Project Runway premieres on Lifetime on Thursday, August 20 at 10:00 p.m. For the first time, the series moves from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City to the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles.

Returning to the show are host/judge Heidi Klum, mentor Tim Gunn, and judges Nina Garcia and Michael Kors. As before, 16 designers will compete for the chance to show at New York Fashion Week.

Bravo’s Top Chef premieres its sixth season on Wednesday, August 26 at 9:00 p.m. EST. This season will take place in Las Vegas, where 17 chefs will compete to win $100,000, a feature in Food & Wine magazine, and a showcase at the Annual Food & Wine Classic in Aspen.

Host/judge and cookbook author Padma Lakshmi returns; joining her again are judges Tom Colicchio, chef and owner of Craft Restaurants; Gail Simmons, Food & Wine magazine; and Toby Young, food critic and author.
